Dressage South Africa Challenge brings the province’s best horses and riders
TIMSRAND – Top dressage judges tour South Africa and come to Fourways Riding Centre for the Gauteng leg of the DSA Challenge.
The feast of dressage continued at Fourways Riding Centre when the the Gauteng leg of the Dressage South Africa (DSA) Challenge arrived in Timsrand.
It was a busy three days of competition from early morning until late afternoon, 6 to 8 November, as the province’s best in the sport competed for bragging rights and glory.
This just a few weeks after the FEI World Dressage Challenge was held at the same venue, which also saw top dressage horses and riders compete for scores they could compare to their counterparts in six other countries.
The DSA Challenge, for its part, kept the bar raised just as high.
“The standard of horse and rider was excellent. It was the same judges touring the country and scoring riders these four weeks,” said yard owner, Marion Clough.
“I believe the results were right: The best horses and riders won their categories. But it was a long and hard competition with the riders having to deal with the heat in their dressage coats.”
Nevertheless, smiles abounded at the show and the lapa and sheltered areas were popular as riders, friends and family discussed proceedings.
