Ward 115 councillor wishes local residents an happy 2021

DOUGLASDALE – Mafokwane urged community members to continue displaying the character of resilience, sharing and unite against every challenging circumstance in 2021 that he hopes will bring relief following a challenging 2020.

Councillor of Ward 115, Matome Mafokwane, has described residents and community members in his area as resilient people following a challenging 2020.

As he penned down his New Year’s well wishes to local residents, Mafokwane said that in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, community members and local businesses rose above the challenge and joined hands to help one another to ensure that those in need and negatively affected received much-needed help.

“Our residents have proved to be a resilient community as they hit the ground running when the lockdown regulations were introduced by national government back in March this year. And for that we thank them for their cooperation then, now and into the future as all indications show that we will be living with Covid-19 for a longer time than we were hoping for,” Mafokwane said

He urged community members to continue displaying the character of resilience, sharing and uniting against every challenging circumstances in 2021 that he hopes will bring relief following a challenging year. “I am very optimistic that we will find vaccine breakthrough in the new year. We must continue working together to achieve a better tomorrow for our community. I wish everyone in our diverse community a jubilant and peaceful end of year 2020. I also wish them a prosperous and successful year in 2021. This we do not for ourselves but the next generations that will inherit this country,” he concluded.
