Lonehill Residents Association reflects on a strange year 2020
LONEHILL – "We are certainly looking forward to welcoming 2021 so that we can put this very strange year behind us."
The Lonehill Residents Association (LRA) marketing manager, Shelley Miller said that this year will be remembered as a year that brought so much pain and many changes in people’s lives after a lockdown was introduced towards the end of March.
“As we unexpectedly went into lockdown Level 5 at the end of March, we entered a new phase of life. It did not take long before we grew used to the eerie quiet of the streets as Lonehilleans and rejoiced when the curfew restrictions were gradually lifted. As we were beginning to enjoy Lonehill’s calm, wide streets and green spaces were opened again.”
Miller said although the year was full of challenges, the association managed to rise above the challenges to achieve a number of things to improve the living standard in the neighbourhood and those challenges became life lessons.
“Apart from learning how much we could accomplish working and socialising from home, we came to appreciate even more how special our little suburb of Lonehill is. We found new ways to come together as a community including opening our hearts to the challenges of those affected by the lockdown. Together, we supported SA Harvest and a group of pastors in Diepsloot with their feeding scheme projects and were once again blown away by the generous contributions of Lonehill residents.”
She added that the board of directors and staff members of the association were looking forward to 2021 and continue serving Lonehill community with the best of their abilities.
“We are certainly looking forward to welcoming 2021 so that we can put this very strange year behind us and continue our plans to make Lonehill the best place to work, play and live in. We wish all our members and residents a Merry Christmas and a happy, safe, successful, and beautiful year 2021.”
