Simuka Afrika exists to make positive impact in community and marginalised
FOURWAYS– In his Christmas message to the local community, Chingwaru said Simuka Afrika non-profit organisation was formed to make a positive impact to the marginalised.
Just before the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, Fourways resident and philanthropist, Godfrey Chingwaru and other residents decided to register a non-profit organisation with its main objective to help the homeless begging for food at different intersections in the area.
The organisation, Simuka Afrika did not only reach out to the homeless but to those who had no food at home as a result of the lockdown.
In his Christmas message to the local community, Chingwaru said, “Simuka Afrika is committed to energising the marginalised communities through the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Together with the uncertainty and demands that the pandemic has forced on us, the year 2020 has been a worrying time, but it also has been a time for opportunities. It might as well have been the time to reimagine who we are and what we do to make Simuka Afrika better in the process.
“Simuka Afrika exists for impact. By focusing on impact, we created a shared understanding of the organisation’s goals and how to position ourselves to deliver on them. To effectively reimagine itself, Simuka Afrika also needed to focus on the larger system in which we operate.”
He reminded members of the public that the pandemic had not been defeated and it was still claiming lives of many people in South Africa.
“As we celebrate and enjoy Christmas and the festive season with our loved ones, we must not forget to adhere to regulations put in place to flatten the curve and minimise chances of contracting the virus. We must act and enjoy ourselves responsibly in order to see 2021. Holiday occasions are all about goodwill, so in this season of giving, let this season of goodwill spread and last, not just over the next few weeks, but throughout the coming year and thereafter.”
