Over 700 bags collected in three-day Douglasdale cleanup
FOURWAYS – The Live Life Always NGO has cleaned up the area and is moving to other suburbs to keep the environment safe.
The entire Fourways area was the site of a three-day clean-up recently thanks to the work of an environmental non-governmental organisation
Live Life Always workers trudged through the area and collected more than 700 bags of rubbish from 12 January to 14 January. Founder of Live Life Always, Sean Williams said he was thankful he could employ members of the Diepsloot community, even though he could not keep employing all of them.
“It has been incredibly difficult keeping our workers from Diepsloot employed due to Covid-19. But we have a goal to keep our community and areas clean.
“It has taken us three days to pick up all the waste in Fourways, and now we are also looking to clean up the Sunninghill and Sandton areas.
“There will still be some cleaning up in the Fourways area occasionally.”
At the time of publication, the workers and volunteers had moved to the Sunninghill area, and would also be looking to clean up the Sandton area.
“We want to bring more presence to more communities and encourage everyone to keep their areas clean and tidy. People have been donating to keep our cause [ongoing] and also been volunteering.
“All of us have to make an effort to keep our communities clean. If all of us can fill a bag in our area, we can do our part in cleaning and saving our environment.”
