Fourways High School sends condolences to the family of Sandile Sibeko
FOURWAYS - Sibeko attended the pre-preparatory school at St John's College and later went to Fourways High School where he was part of the class of 1996.
Fourways High School has expressed its shock and sent their condolences to the family of the Springbok women’s rugby team strength and conditioning coach, Sandile Sibeko.
Sibeko passed away on 23 January at the age of 42. He attended St John’s College Pre-Preparatory and later went to Fourways High School.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fourways High School alumni, Sandile Sibeko of the Class of 1996. Our prayers are with his friends, family and colleagues. Sandile is known and will be remembered for his role as the strength and conditioning coach of the SA women’s rugby team,” the school said in a statement.
South African Rugby president, Mark Alexander said, “This is a deeply sad day for the rugby fraternity. We have lost a passionate and dedicated rugby man and one of the best strength and conditioning coaches in the country. Sandile’s work ethic, the professionalism with which he dealt with the players and his management team, and his larger than life personality made him a key figure at SA Rugby and in the Springbok women’s team.
“I’d like to extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues at SA Rugby, and the Springbok women’s team for this massive loss. His passing has left a big void both on and off the field.”
Sibeko spent some time at the Centre for Sports Science in India where he lectured on exercise and sports science, and taught MD Sports Medicine postgraduate degree classes at the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research.
