Stop-and-search leads to drug bust

DOUGLASDALE – A suspect led Douglasdale police officers to a house where an estimated R3-million worth of meth was discovered.


Officers of the Douglasdale Police Station arrested two suspects after being led to about R3-million worth of crystal meth.

During a routine patrol in the area, officers came across a suspicious-looking man wearing a backpack. Upon searching him, the police found one packet of crystal meth in the bag. Spokesperson for the police, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane said, “The suspect then led the police to a house in Sharonlea where they recovered more crystal meth drugs estimated to the value of R3 million. Two suspects aged 25 and 60 were arrested for possession of drugs.”

Both suspects are expected to appear in Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon as police investigations are continuing. Douglasdale Police Station management applauded the vigilance and commitment of the members in preventing the distribution of drugs in the area. “The police will continue with these operations to make sure that the community of Douglasdale is and feels safe,” Tshetlhane concluded.
