Ward 93 councillor meets stakeholders to check progress on water pipe replacement project
FOURWAYS– James said Van Wijk has been very instrumental in communicating progress made on the project with all stakeholders and community members affected.
Ward 93 councillor Candice James has expressed her satisfaction with the progress on the water pipe upgrade on the corner of Plover Street and Alexander Avenue in Fourways.
James met with the community liaison officer of the project, Mark van Wijk, and contractors at the construction site to check on progress made at the water pipe replacement project which started in March this year. “I am very pleased and satisfied with the progress made on the project so far,” she said.
“Johannesburg Water commenced with this water pipe replacement following countless incidents of water pipe bursts in the area last year amid Covid-19 pandemic hard lockdown.
“A team of experts were sent into the area by Johannesburg Water to check the root cause of the pipe bursts and it was discovered that ageing water infrastructure was the root cause. The utility decided to use emergency an budget to replace the old pipe.”
James added that Van Wijk has been instrumental in communicating progress made on the project with all stakeholders and community members affected. “Mark has been incredible… He keeps me and community members updated. By so doing, he helps us eliminate any doubts and gives answers to questions that we might have concerning the project.
“I have no doubt that this project will be finished in record time.”
