Residents clean-up initiative aims to keep Douglasdale clean

DOUGLASDALE– Mottram said the clean-up campaign and the garden initiative was started 13 years ago in order to keep the neighbourhood clean and environmentally friendly.

The chairperson of Douglasdale Business and Residents Forum, Susan Mottram has thanked local business and individual donors for their continuous support for the Douglasdale verge clean-up and composting campaign.

This was after residents and local businesses came out in their numbers to support the clean-up initiative held along Douglasdale Drive and Leslie Avenue on 22 May.

Mottram said the cleaning campaign and the garden initiative was started 13 years ago to keep the neighbourhood clean and environmentally friendly.

“Ruth Fleming and I started this project in order to keep Douglasdale neat and clean. We applied to the City of Johannesburg to get permission to turn a barren piece of land that was used as a parking lot into a garden. Some members of the community and local businesses came on board to support this initiative.

We’ve invited members of the community to be part of today’s campaign because we want everyone to get involved in making Douglasdale a great place to live in,” she added.
