“I enjoyed the competition and this is the most I’ve enjoyed the sport in my entire life. Ofcourse, it is also a gratifying sensation to be on the podium but I’m more excited about my newfound love for this sport.

“It was so wonderful being able to prepare and skate in a competition after so many months of Covid-19 restrictions.

“It was nice to be back in the competition environment and to perform again.”

After beginning her journey on the ice over 10 years ago, it remains a part of Donatella’s life that she would not change. “It has been a lot of sacrifices and hard work but an experience I wouldn’t trade for the world. I have learnt so many life lessons and so much about myself throughout my ice skating journey.”

Donatella looks forward to preparing for the national championships which are set to take place in Gauteng next month.
