What do you need to register?
JOBURG – Voters must be registered at a voting station within the ward in which they reside.
To register to vote, you must be at least 16 years old, a South African citizen and in possession of a valid South African ID document.
The ID document can be in the form of a green barcoded ID book, a smartcard ID or a Temporary Identity Certificate (TIC).
Voters must be registered at a voting station within the ward in which they reside.
When registering, voters must provide an address or detailed description of a place of residence. Proof of address (e.g. in the form of a utilities account) is, however, not required for registration.
Voters visiting a voting station in-person to register must wear a mask or appropriate face covering and observe social distancing.
While hand-sanitising facilities and routinely sanitised pens will be provided at each voter registration station, voters wishing to bring their own pen are encouraged to do so.
