Local bike rider’s skill to be tested in the continental competition
FOURWAYS– Raymond said his son started riding bikes at the tender age of four and has since won two championships.
Rayden Woolls (8), a Grade 2 learner at Heronbridge College, will represent South Africa in motocross later this year.
Rayden’s father, Raymond Woolls said his son started riding bikes at the tender age of four.
“Rayden was chosen for the South African Motocross team that will represent South Africa in the 2021 Africa of Nations race in Uganda,” he added.

“Only the top five in South Africa get chosen to participate in the continental competition. He is currently lying third in the championship out of 40 riders who travel all over SA to race. He has had a great start to the 2021 season, as he is currently leading the Gauteng Regional championship.
“He is also leading another racing championship, the World Of Motorsport ZA inland series.”
Raymond added that Rayden had won two championships to date, the 2019 junior 50cc Inland Championship and the 2020 Senior Inland Championship. Last year, he finished fifth overall in the National Motocross Championship.
Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions the event in Uganda was moved to later this year and they were awaiting the confirmed dates from Motocross South Africa. “Rayden is trained by a 60-year-old legend and three-times South African champion Tony Riddell who is still actively involved in coaching young kids, both boys and girls, how to ride and better their skills.

“Rayden is also part of Tony’s race team, team RTR [Road to Race] who race in the various championships in and around Gauteng and South Africa.”
Raymond concluded, “Rayden trains three times a week at the track and spends hours on his mountain bike and scooter.
“He is hoping for a top-five overall finish in Uganda to ensure that the South African team wins the event overall.”
