JMPD conducts awareness campaign in Diepsloot

DIEPSLOOT – JMPD visited a mall in Diepsloot as part of the gender-based violence awareness campaigns throughout Johannesburg.

With the country raising awareness about 16 Days of Activism against Violence Against Women and Children, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) headed to a mall in Diepsloot on November 29 to conduct an awareness campaign.

Officers conducted roadside checks and had also engaged with the community on foot regarding gender-based violence and road safety during the festive season and throughout the year.

“The community took the campaign positively and acknowledged that there is a serious concern regarding the violence perpetrated against women and children. They appreciated the efforts shown by the department in highlighting this problem and finding solutions to tackle this scourge,” said Metro police spokesperson Xolani Fihla.

JMPD’s 16 Days of Activism against Violence Against Women and Children awareness campaigns started on November 25 and will continue until December 10 throughout the city.
“JMPD will ensure that this scourge is highlighted all year round. We say no to any form of violence against women, children and men,” concluded Fihla.
