Councillor wishes all a prosperous new year
FOURWAYS – Ward 106’s Chris Santana wished all residents a safe festive season and highlighted the new normal brought in by Covid-19.
Councillor for Ward 106 Chris Santana sends a end-of-year message to the community:
I wish to pay homage to all who make a difference in our lives daily, to our frontline workers, doctors, nurses, scientists, teachers, parents, public servants and constituents including you the listener. Yes, we are all in this together, we will overcome and make it a better South Africa for all.
As another year comes to an end, the risk of a fourth wave of the Covid-19 variant Omicron looms.
We continuously find ourselves plagued by uncertainty. The new normal is now deeply entrenched in our daily lives with online meetings being held within the comfort of our homes.
So is true in the life of politics. We started off the year not knowing if the local government elections would even take place, yet they did. Although uncertainty persists within some of the hung councils, Johannesburg included, I am certain we will prevail and ensure service delivery takes precedence.
The biggest win for Ward 106 this year, which left many residents both frustrated and helpless, was the completion of repairs and the reopening of the 12th Avenue Bridge.
I wish to thank you all. Here’s to a bright new year and a fond farewell to the old; here’s to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold. May you have a prosperous new year.
