Johannesburg District Health Department partners with Isibani Development to fight the spread of TB in Diepsloot

DIEPSLOOT– The Ward 95 councillor promised that the Diepsloot community will work closely with the department to safeguard the mobile X-ray.

A state-of-the-art mobile chest X-ray has been launched in Diepsloot to assist the fight against TB.

Scores of community members came to witness the historic launch by the Johannesburg District Health Department, in partnership with Isibani Development non-profit organisation, at OR Tambo Community Health Centre on February 28.

The mobile X-ray comes with a full complement of staff members which includes a radiographer, data capturer, a nurse, nursing assistant and driver.

Chief director at Johannesburg District Health Department, Mogeru Morewane said the X-ray will help in the fight against TB in and around Diepsloot communities.

“We are excited as district to have finally launched this mobile X-ray. Communities from hard-to-reach areas will benefit as they struggle to access such services due to financial constraints and other reasons. The mobile will bring relief to those people and minimise travelling long distances to access services,” Morewane said.

Ward 95 councillor Julius Maake, who attended the launch, said they will work closely with the department to ensure the safety of the mobile X-ray as it visits local communities.

“We as the Diepsloot community will be champions and security personnel of this mobile. No vandalisation, robbery or whatsoever will be done to this mobile under our watch,” said Maake.
