Police arrest 19 in weekend operations

Police once again hit the streets in operations that saw 19 suspects arrested for various crimes.

The weekend of March 25 to 27 saw 19 suspects arrested thanks to the efforts of Douglasdale police during operations conducted in the area.

Spokesperson for the Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane said the suspects were arrested for differing crimes. “The suspects’ crimes include possession of an unlicensed firearm, pointing of a firearm, assault common, dealing in liquor without a licence, assault to do grievous bodily harm, theft, drinking in public and shoplifting.”
The arrested suspects will appear at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police continue to encourage community members to keep reporting all criminal activities in their areas by phoning the station on 011 699 1300 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Alternatively, they can use the MySAPS app to send anonymous tip-offs or go to the nearest police station.
