Shortly after the mask mandate fell away, the first case of monkeypox was recorded in South Africa.
The Fourways Review asked people if they were concerned about the virus. Here is what they had to say…
MOSES CHICHONYE: I think that monkeypox isn’t a big issue on my side because maybe it’s controllable and maybe there are cures out there so we can maybe manage it as a country.THATEGO MABUTI: I’m not even going to lie, I am scared of getting monkeypox even though I don’t think it’s as severe as Covid-19, but I still wouldn’t want to contract it.SNENHLANHLA LUKHELE: I think that monkeypox is indefinite because I feel that there is still not enough tangible information about it to be seen as a serious thing.RENEILOE MALAHLELA: Well naturally, I think that everyone should be concerned about it and I think that we should take precautionary measures before there is a big breakout like Covid.
