Douglasdale police arrest 29 at the weekend

Douglasdale police continued their weekend operations in keeping the community safe where they arrested over 20 suspects.

During operations conducted in the Fourways area, police arrested 29 suspects for a number of crimes between July 22 and 24.

The spokesperson for the police Captain Mpho Tshetlhane said, “The arrests were for crimes from fraud, dealing in liquor without a licence, theft, assault to cause grievous bodily harm, drunk driving and shoplifting.

“Sixteen of the suspects were arrested for drunk and driving during a joint operation between Douglasdale police and JMPD,” she said.
The suspects who were arrested by police would appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police continue to appeal to the community to keep reporting all criminal activities in their areas by phoning the station on 011 699 1300 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Alternatively, they can use the MySAPS app to send anonymous tip-offs or go to the nearest police station.
