Women in uniform take charge in Douglasdale
The operation saw multiple vehicles being stopped and searched.
The Douglasdale police in partnership with the Douglasdale CPF and JMPD hosted a women’s awareness campaign on August 25.

Operation Basadi (women), is an annual event that sees women in law enforcement leading a multi-disciplinary roadblock to stop and search vehicles and also spread awareness about certain issues.

The operation took place from 08:00 till 13:00 in two different locations, at the corner of Witkoppen and Hyperion roads and the intersection of Witkoppen Road and William Nicol Drive in Fourways.
Brigadier Veeshani Arikum said, “Today’s operation is based on our annual operation focused mainly on Women’s Month. It’s called Operation Basadi. So we focus on trying to educate women about their rights if there are acts of domestic violence against them. We also want to encourage women to be self-sufficient.”

Lizzy Mabena of Douglasdale CPF said, “As the CPF we are happy to form part of these proactive approaches in policing and creating platforms via police operations to engage directly with the community and share information on the dangers of substance dependency and substance abuse.

“Being proactive and going out directly to the community is something we support.”
Representatives of Sanca were also present at the operations and handed out flyers to the motorists to inform them about drunk driving.
