Local environmental organisation collects 155 bags of litter to commemorate World Environment Health Day
LLA co-founder urged local businesses to help sponsor their work in order to continue keeping the streets of Fourways clean.
A Fourways-based environmental non-profit organisation, Live Life Always (LLA), Pikitup and the City’s Environmental Health Department embarked on a special cleaning campaign September 26 to keep local streets clean and tidy.
Live Life Always co-founder, Lovemore Robson said the cleaning campaign was part of this year’s World Environment Health Day aimed at encouraging communities to keep their neighbourhoods clean.
World Environmental Health Day is a day dedicated to informing people about the health of the environment and preserving it.
“We partnered with the city’s Department of Environmental Health to help raise awareness about the importance of keeping our neighbourhoods clean. We managed to collect 155 bags of litter in and around Leaping Frog Shopping Centre precinct.”
Robson urged local businesses to help sponsor their work in order to continue keeping the streets of Fourways clean.
“We appeal to the local business community and individuals to sponsor the work that we do. Our volunteers dedicate some hours from Monday to Thursday every week to cleaning this neighbourhood. We do this because we love our neighbourhood and it’s up to each and every one of us as residents to keep it tidy.”
