A local learner feels that the world is not doing enough to preserve the planet.
A group of Grade 10 and 11 learners from Reddam House, Waterfall, rolled up their sleeves in September to take part in World Clean-up Day to remove litter on the banks of the Jukskei River in Glenferness.

After participating in the clean-up campaign, Grade 11 learner at the school Demira Naran said it makes her angry to see people polluting the planet and not doing anything to preserve it.

“I came here to be part of this clean-up event because I understand the importance of taking good care of our environment. I believe that this is one of the best ways to contribute toward preventing catastrophes of climate change. It makes me frustrated and angry that we as human beings are the main contributors in destroying and polluting our only planet.”
Demira said she doesn’t think the world was not doing enough to combat pollution. “Our oceans are full of litter that puts the lives of water species in danger. I believe that government, industries and communities need to work together to reverse possible catastrophes of climate change.”
