Sunninghill violinist releases her first single
Neo Motsatse of Sunninghill recently released a new single that is a cover of a well-known South African song, Music in the Air by singer Letta Mbulu.
The love for orchestral concerts from a young age has an up-and-coming violinist from Sunninghill ready to show the world what she has to offer after the release of her newest single.
Neo Motsatse (22) has the world in the palm of her hands as she continues to navigate and carve her journey in the music industry. Beginning her violin journey at the age of six, the hobby became a passion thanks to the help from her parents to nurture her talent and love for the string instrument.
“This musical journey started when my dad, Nicholas Motsatse took my family and me to orchestral concerts. I was entranced by the beautiful sounds that came from the violins and it was that interest that encouraged my parents to find a violin teacher for me, and not long after that my mother, Fezeka, started taking me to violin lessons,” she said.

Since then, she has received the Standard Bank Ovation Award twice at the National Arts Festival in Makhanda, and is partnered with Nedbank, Wiphold, Department of Arts and Culture.
Motsatse recently released her first single titled There’s Music in the Air which is a cover adaptation by South African singer Letta Mbulu that was composed by Caiphus Semenya and Will Jennings.
With the single available on all mainstream music streaming sites, she recalled feeling excited at the release as this a dream since the age of 16.

“This whole experience has been one of the best things I’ve done in my 16 years of playing the violin,” she said.
“I’ve gained a lot more knowledge about myself and the music industry, I’ve been able to acquire more skills that will undoubtedly aid my success in this industry, and it all starts with this single.”
