Three suspects apprehended for business robbery

Just when they thought they had fled the scene, they were caught.

The Douglasdale SAPS apprehended three suspects aged between 21 and 35 for a business robbery and possession of dangerous weapons.

It is alleged that on October 5, at about 22:15, the suspects entered a complex in North Riding. They approached two security guards who were on duty under the pretence of looking for directions. One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the victims while the other one pulled out a knife and instructed the victims to unlock the guard room door.

The suspects entered the guard room and took a DVR camera recorder, a TV and cell phones. The SAPS members who were patrolling around the Kya Sands area came across a suspicious-looking vehicle. They stopped and searched the vehicle with its three occupants. The police recovered items believed to be linked to the business robbery reported earlier, including a pellet gun and sharp knives.

The suspects were arrested and detained at Douglasdale Police Station. They will appear in Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon. Police investigations are continuing. “We applaud the swift reaction and dedication of our police members in ensuring that our community is safe, ” said Douglasdale station commander Brigadier Veeshani Arikum.
