Ward 94 councillor David Foley invited residents to an open day at Fourways Mall today, September 26, where municipal teams and the Fourways Improvement District were available to assist with community concerns.

The event, held at Fourways Mall from 10:00 to 16:00, brought together several stalls and services, including the Fourways Improvement District, the City of Johannesburg Revenue team, and Pikitup.

Foley said the event also provided residents with an opportunity to learn more about the Fourways Improvement District and how they could become involved.

“You have seen the crime in the last couple of weeks along Winnie Mandela Drive,” Foley said.

He encouraged residents to visit the improvement district stall to learn more about its work and the benefits available to those who join.

According to Foley, residents could also enter a competition and access benefits including free parking at the mall. The City of Johannesburg Revenue team was also at the event to assist residents with municipal-related queries.

Foley said residents with outstanding revenue balances or water-related complaints could approach the team for assistance. The Extended Social Package (ESP) team was available to assist qualifying residents who were struggling to keep up with their municipal payments.

“If you can’t keep up with payments and you’re qualified, you can apply for it right here today.”

He said the service was intended to allow residents to deal with their municipal queries directly with the relevant teams.

“Today, the revenue team here, they’re online, they can help you straight away, simple and quick.”

Pikitup was also represented at the open day, allowing residents to raise waste-related concerns. Foley said the event was free to attend and encouraged residents to make use of the services available.

“Please come here, it’s not going to cost you an entrance fee, it’s free today, so please come along.”

The open day forms part of efforts to bring municipal and community services closer to residents, while allowing residents to engage directly with the teams responsible for different services.

Foley said residents were still being encouraged to attend and raise the challenges they were experiencing in their communities.
