Unity College learners unite and head to camp

The learners from the institution loved the experience and independence.

As part of Unity College’s Life Skills Programme, the institution took its pupils on a camp where they looked for levels of independence, and levels of maturity, and where they exposed the children to the experience of being away from home.

Ovayo Mayende, Grace Inglis and Mikayla Kaka were swim buddies and enjoyed the activities.

Away from mom, dad, helper, grandma, grandpa, doing things for them and seeing how far the children can go in terms of independence and also see how they can execute non-academic challenges, challenging the mind, and also challenging the fine motor skills of our special needs children.

According to the HOD of the institution, Shadreck Chidakwa, on camp the children are exposed to various activities that challenge different areas of our children’s development. “For example, fine motor skills, balance, reasoning, sorting, and the rush of the adrenaline because FUN is part of the activities and overall experience.” The learners were very excited and enjoyed the camp. After three days, the learners came back home and were happy to have experienced the camping experience.
