Author pens ‘Unlocked’ to help unlock reader’s minds
Lisa Sukdev shares the inspiring story behind her memoir: Unlocked. From the therapeutic writing process to the personal struggles and triumphs that shaped the book.
Unlocked is more than just a book title; it’s a state of mind. And for debut author Lisa Sukdev, it’s a personal mantra that has guided her through life’s ups and downs.
Sukdev put pen to paper to relive her journey of overcoming misfortunes, finding happiness, and building confidence, amongst other topics, in Unlocked.
With unflinching honesty and vulnerability, she unlocks the doors to her own story, revealing the power of resilience and hope. Dedicated to her son, this powerful book is a love letter to the next generation.

“I wanted to start and finish something last year, and I chose this book, as it was a work in progress for a few years. It’s a book filled with my personal experience and the lessons I’ve derived from them. I hope that readers will be inspired to make intentional change, so they can live their most fulfilling life.
“My son is my why. When he reads the book, I hope he understands how pivotal his influence in my life is. I want him to be further inspired to live his potential with all gratitude.”
She said the decision to share areas of her life, as she was writing the book, was organic, in fact, this is a book written from the heart.
“The language is easy and so is the story. The reflection and introspection of my life and experiences was part of my healing journey and have left me stronger and more bold than I was before.”

She believes that every reader will find a few chapters they personally resonate with. She said everyone has experienced challenges, and will continue to do so.
“The critical part is if we are going to choose to overcome, or be overcome. Once we make the choice, the action will follow. I hope this book is a catalyst to get readers going.”
Sukdev celebrated the launch of Unlocked at an intimate and elegant book launch at Steyn City, surrounded by friends, family, and fans on January 24. She said she has very high hopes about it.
“I hope that with this book, I will have more platforms to speak. It’s a gift I want to exercise more. Speaking for impact is my dream. I don’t know if I am going to write a new book just yet but I am sure, down the line, I will. I also want to help aspiring writers.”
Unlocked is now available for purchase on Amazon, and in a heartwarming gesture, Sukdev will be donating a portion of the proceeds to charity, paying it forward and spreading the book’s message of hope and resilience even further.
