The Auto&General Cross Triathlon saw fierce competition and record-breaking participation at Steyn City with Scott Fisher and Nicolette Griffioen claiming victory in their individual race categories.

The highly anticipated Auto&General Cross Triathlon returned to Steyn City on February 15, and the competition was fiercer than ever.

After a challenging swim, cycle, and run across the sprawling 2 000ac estate, Scott Fisher won in the men’s race with a time of 02:10:26, while Nicolette Griffioen claimed victory in the women’s race with a time of 02:25:48.

This year’s event also held added significance, thanks to a collaboration with Triathlon SA, which marked the top performers from the day’s Cross Triathlon with the added honour of being SA Cross Triathlon champions.

The event kicked off with a swim in the Steyn City lagoon, followed by a bike ride along the estate’s custom-designed mountain bike trails, and wrapped up with a scenic run, offering participants breathtaking views of Steyn City’s indigenous parkland.

Alex Terblanché, CEO of Auto&General Insurance, said: “We’re extremely pleased with how the event has evolved over the years. This year, it was an honour to host the South African National Championship for Cross Triathlon in 2025, and to see athletes from all over the country competing for the coveted title of SA Cross Triathlon champion.”

What sets the Auto&General Cross Triathlon apart, is that athletes of all levels are able to take part. Alongside the elite individual categories, the event also introduced team divisions, allowing participants to focus on their strengths by choosing to compete in either the swimming, the biking, or the running leg of the race.

“We’re proud to be part of this incredible event. Steyn City offers the ideal environment for such a prestigious competition, with its exceptional amenities including the 300m lagoon, 50km mountain biking track, and 45km floodlit promenade. It’s amazing to see so many athletes embracing the challenge in such a beautiful and safe environment,” said Steven Louw, CEO of Steyn City Properties.
