Car crash in Fourways claims two lives
JMPD confirms a deadly collision at a busy Fourways intersection, left two people dead.
A tragic incident, at the intersection of Witkoppen Road and Douglas Drive in Fourways, resulted in the deaths of two individuals on June 17.
Ward 115 councillor Mark Van der Merwe, Douglasdale Community Police Forum (CPF), and Superintendent Xolani Fihla, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson, confirmed the incident.
According Fihla, the collision involved a black BMW, driven by a male, and a silver Chevrolet Aveo, driven by another male with a male passenger.

“Witnesses and preliminary investigations allege that the Chevrolet was making a right turn when it collided with the BMW at the intersection,” said Fihla. “Unfortunately, the driver and the passenger of the Chevrolet sustained fatal injuries during the incident.”
The driver of the BMW was arrested on-site for driving under the influence of alcohol.
“A case of culpable homicide was open at Douglasdale SAPS to further investigate the circumstances that led to this tragic incident. On behalf of JMPD, I extend condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased”
