Ward 115 streetlights on after months of darkness
Fourways residents can finally enjoy well-lit streets after months of suffering in the dark.
Ward 115 councillor Mark van der Merwe rejoiced as City Power swiftly attended to street light issues in his ward.
After 8 months of darkness in Inchanga, Campbell, Duff, Sagewood, and Willow Road, City Power finally lit their streets, Van der Merwe confirmed on June 18.
This comes after the street lights were repaired on June 2, but stopped functioning during the weekend of June 13–16.
According to Van der Merwe, he logged a complaint to City Power on June 17, and they responded on June 18.

Van der Merwe expressed his appreciation for the quick response. “I was very impressed with how promptly they responded to fix the street lights
“It’s encouraging to see City Power prioritise these repairs and keep our community safe, as this issue was becoming a concern among residents.”
However, he also noted that some issues remain. “While we’ve made good progress, there are still faults on Kingfisher and Robin streets that need further attention. We’re working closely with City Power and waiting for Eskom’s approval to complete the remaining connections.”

He reassured residents that efforts are ongoing. “City Power has indicated they will carry out the remaining repairs as soon as Eskom provides the necessary authority to connect the street lights to the substation.”
