Safety upgrade complete at Lonehill kids play park

Lonehill Park reopens with a fresh safety makeover, delighting families as City Parks delivers on its promise of safer play spaces.

Following the installation of new rubberised fall-safe surfaces, Lonehill’s children’s play park has officially reopened. This gives local families a safer and more enjoyable space to gather.

The project, which began on August 15 and took just over a week to complete, saw each piece of play equipment fitted with rubberised surfacing. The upgrade was welcomed by residents who have already started returning with their children.

Ward 94 councillor David Foley expressed his satisfaction at the park’s completion. “The feedback has been wonderful, with everyone raving about it.”

While no additional play structures are planned at this stage, Foley confirmed that new trees will be planted in September to mark Arbour Month. “These will be supplied by City Parks and planted both in the park and across Ward 94 streets.”

Foley also reassured residents that long-term maintenance remains a priority. “I will do regular oversight visits to ensure the quality of the surfacing is up to standard, and any issues I pick up will be raised directly with City Parks.”

The Lonehill Residents Association (LRA) also celebrated the upgrade, calling it a big step forward for the community. “We’re so excited that the play park has been refreshed with rubberised safety surfacing around each play structure,” said the LRA, “making it safer, and even more fun for the little ones.”
