A Lonehill mother is laughing all the way to the bank after becoming an instant millionaire, and just in time for December.
The sole breadwinner, who had unknowingly secured more than R6m in the PowerBall Plus jackpot from the November 14 draw, was tracked down by Ithuba after several days of searching for the mystery winner.

Once located, she stepped forward to claim the life-changing amount, confirming to Ithuba, as reported by The Citizen, that she had bought her R15 quick pick ticket at a petrol station in Lonehill.
“I was just trying my luck, but I never expected it to happen to me. I was shocked and overjoyed when I realised I had actually won.”
The mother said she discovered her win at the exact same petrol station where she purchased the ticket. “I couldn’t contain my excitement. I had to share the news with my father right away.”
As the sole provider in her family, she told Ithuba that her winnings will immediately go toward building a stable future for her loved ones.
“I’m looking forward to giving them a better life, starting with a home of our own. It’s a dream come true.”
She added that part of her winnings will be used to help others. “I am excited to use some of it to make someone else’s life better through charity work.” Noting that she will: “Definitely continue to Phanda, Pusha, Play.”
Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza congratulated the winner, saying this is a powerful example of how the National Lottery can change lives. “A very warm congratulations to the winner. We’re so happy for her and her family, and we wish them all the best for their soon-to-be new home.

“This win is evidence that sometimes trying your luck with the National Lottery games can really be a life-changer.”
Mabuza also reminded players that the draw produced additional winners in the lower prize divisions and encouraged all participants to check their tickets.
Ithuba confirmed it has provided the winner with trauma counselling and professional financial advice to help her manage her new fortune responsibly.
Players must be 18 or older, and are reminded to always play responsibly.
