Hirsch’s cheers on Mrs South Africa at emotional send-off to Mrs World
Hirsch’s celebrated Erin Miller as she sets off to strut her stuff on the global stage.
As any entrepreneur will tell you, if it doesn’t make dollars, it doesn’t make sense, and neither does ignoring your own potential.
That idea, familiar to anyone who’s ever built something from scratch, perfectly captures the spirit of Hirsch’s approach to women’s empowerment.
Last year, Margaret Hirsch shared this philosophy at an intimate Mrs South Africa breakfast, reminding women that financial independence isn’t just about money in the bank; it’s about freedom, confidence, and stepping boldly into the life you deserve.

Long before becoming a familiar face at Mrs South Africa events, Hirsch has poured her heart into women’s empowerment, not in boardrooms or ballrooms, but in classrooms and communities where young girls often go unseen and unsure of their own potential.
“I work with teenage girls in schools, and so many of them don’t have a role model. But when they see these beautiful women who are married, who have degrees, careers, children, who run homes, they suddenly realise they can become something too,” Hirsch said.
She had a humble beginning growing up in a foster home in Pietermaritzburg, but her choices were bold. “I could have stayed there; I could have been a nobody. But I chose a career, I chose to do good.”
Today, her work touches thousands of women across South Africa, teaching them to make money, manage it, and claim their independence, a safeguard against gender-based limitations and a tool for empowerment.
Through the Mrs South Africa programme, Hirsch has helped women rediscover their confidence and present the best version of themselves to the world.
Building on this tradition of mentorship and support, the store was involved in the official send-off for this year’s Mrs South Africa, Erin Jane Miller, as she heads to the prestigious Mrs World stage.

Michelle Paine from Hirsch’s described the moment as incredibly inspiring, filled with pride, emotion, and belief, knowing Miller carries not only her own dreams but the hopes and support of a nation behind her.
In a heartfelt gesture, Mrs South Africa was presented with a framed gift symbolising pride and encouragement.
The company supports contestants through monthly competitions, motivational sessions, and mentorship, ensuring the experience is as much about personal growth as it is about pageantry.
“Supporting Mrs South Africa reflects everything [we] stand for: empowerment, leadership, and excellence. The finalists represent the versatility of modern women: daughters, wives, mothers, step-mothers, and accomplished businesswomen,” Hirsch said.
Hirsch hopes Miller carries a message of strength, confidence, and compassion, representing the diversity, resilience, and heart of South African women as she prepares to walk on the global stage.
