The new store brings, what the retailer describes as, its most extensive food offering under one roof, combining everyday essentials with premium ingredients, meal solutions, specialist counters and spaces designed to encourage customers to explore new flavours and products.

The Gauteng launch follows the successful opening of Woolworths’ first food emporium in Durbanville, Cape Town, and forms part of the retailer’s strategy to adapt its stores to changing customer needs.

Woolworths food chief executive officer Chan Pillay said the new concept was about offering customers more than simply a convenient place to shop. “Our customers are looking for more than just convenience.
