Overnight power outages hit Beverly, Lonehill, and Paulshof
Residents endured a long night without electricity as repair teams battled a substation fault, while Paulshof faces ongoing uncertainty.
Residents in Beverly and Lonehill endured a long, dark night after a piece of equipment faulted at one of the local substations, leaving large parts of the areas without electricity.
Ward 94 councillor David Foley confirmed that technicians from Eskom responded promptly to the outage. “The team is currently on site fixing the cause. They worked through the night and the power should be back in the afternoon today.”

Eskom also took to social media on February 4 to provide an update, confirming that specialist jointers were deployed to carry out cable repairs. “Jointers are on site working on cable repairs and restoring supply to Fourways and Lonehill. We anticipate that all work will be concluded and supply restored by 15:00.”
Foley urged residents to remain patient, explaining that the repairs are complex and time-consuming, but assured the community that teams have been working tirelessly since the outage began.
“The repairs are complicated, but crews worked right through the night and will continue until supply is fully restored. We apologise for the long duration.”

“The estimated time of restoration is not available at this stage. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes.”
