Little Steps learners walk in kindness, and pyjamas and slippers, for Slipper Day
Dressed in cosy slippers and pyjamas, Little Steps children embraced a lesson in compassion while supporting Reach for a Dream’s annual Slipper Day initiative.
Little Steps learners recently swapped their school shoes for slippers and pyjamas as they joined Reach for a Dream’s annual Slipper Day campaign, a national initiative aimed at bringing hope and joy to children living with life-threatening illnesses.
Principal Melissa Savage said the special day was about more than just fun and comfort. For the children at Little Steps, it was an opportunity to learn valuable lessons about kindness, compassion, and the importance of helping others.

“By participating in Slipper Day, learners were encouraged to think about children facing difficult health challenges, and how even small acts of support can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
“At Little Steps, we believe that one of the most important lessons we can teach our children is kindness, compassion, and the importance of helping others.
Slipper Day provides a wonderful opportunity for our learners to understand that even the smallest acts of kindness can bring hope, comfort, and joy to someone who may be facing difficult circumstances.”

Savage added that taking part in initiatives, such as Slipper Day, helps children understand the value of empathy, generosity, and community involvement from an early age.

The colourful event saw learners proudly wearing their favourite slippers and pyjamas as they took part in a day filled with smiles, laughter, and meaningful discussions about caring for others.
Savage said supporting causes such as Reach for a Dream is an important part of the school’s approach to education.
“We are passionate about nurturing caring hearts alongside growing minds. We want our children to grow into compassionate individuals who understand the importance of giving back and making a positive difference in their communities.
These are lessons that will stay with them long after they leave our classrooms.”
