Pikitup rejects claims of three-week refuse collection delays in Farmall
Residents' concerns over waste collection and illegal dumping in Farmall have sparked a response from Pikitup, as questions around service delivery in the area continue to grow.
Pikitup has rejected claims that refuse in Farmall is only being collected every three weeks, stating that waste collection services continue to be provided weekly in the area.
The response comes after Farmall residents raised concerns about delayed refuse collection, deteriorating roads and illegal dumping, with some residents claiming they were experiencing significant disruptions in waste removal services.
Resident Kirsten Nel expressed frustration over what she described as ongoing service delivery failures.

“Nothing has been done regarding the state of our roads and the fact that we only get refuse removal every three weeks.”
Responding to the allegations, Pikitup general manager Anthony Selepe said the claim that waste had not been collected for extended periods was incorrect.
“It is not true that waste has not been collected in the area for the period referred to because waste collection is rendered weekly across the city.”
He added that while delays may occasionally occur, complaints received from residents are attended to.
“If there are waste collection delays, they are addressed, and when complaints are received from the area, they are addressed.”
According to Selepe, the official refuse collection day for Farmall is Tuesdays.

He also responded to concerns about illegal dumping, an issue residents said has become increasingly problematic in the area.
“Yes, Pikitup is aware, and as a responsive company it endeavours to address the complaints of residents within a reasonable time through the responsible depot, which is the Randburg depot.”
The response follows earlier concerns from residents who questioned why illegal dumping continues to affect the area despite repeated reports to authorities.
