Witkoppen Clinic launches winter warmer campaign for comfort during the cold season

The clinic is calling on the community to donate blankets, clothing and other winter essentials to help those facing the cold season without adequate protection.

Many community members are braving the cold each day as they travel to work, school, and healthcare facilities, as the temperatures continue to drop.

For some families, winter is not just an inconvenience; it is a difficult season marked by a lack of adequate warm clothing, shoes and bedding.

That is why Witkoppen Clinic has launched its Winter Warmer Campaign, an initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable families and individuals in the community during the cold months.

Through the campaign, the clinic hopes to extend the care it provides beyond healthcare services by helping community members stay warm and protected throughout winter.

The campaign runs until August 1 and is calling on community members, local businesses, organisations and residents in surrounding areas to donate new or good-condition second-hand winter essentials.

The clinic’s Cleopatra Fothane said the clinic is accepting donations of blankets, adult and children’s clothing, sneakers, boots, beanies, scarves and gloves.

All donated items will contribute towards assisting those who may be struggling to stay warm during the season.

Xolelani Ngwenya, one of the patients who received a blanket from the clinic, said, “No act of kindness is too small. Every blanket, jacket, pair of shoes, or item of warm clothing donated has the potential to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.”

Community members who would like to contribute are encouraged to donate items that are in good, clean condition. Donations of any size are welcome and appreciated, with every contribution helping to make a positive impact on someone’s winter experience.

Donations can be dropped off at Witkoppen Clinic, located at 105 Winnie Mandela Drive, Fourways, Johannesburg.
