Douglasdale police have confirmed that Leah Moumakoa, who was reported missing on June 13 and whose photograph was widely circulated across Fourways community groups, is dead.

Brigadier Veeshani Arikum, station commander of the Douglasdale police, confirmed on June 18 that Moumakoa was killed following an alleged hit-and-run incident.

Arikum said the incident occurred in Randburg, and a case was opened at Randburg Police Station under case number 180/06/2026.

Moumakoa’s disappearance sparked concern among residents after missing person posts began circulating on local community groups in hopes of her safe return.

According to the posts circulating on social media, Moumakoa was employed at a gym facility in Fourways. Arikum confirmed that her family had come forward to the police.

“The family made contact with my officer, but the case is being handled by the Randburg station.”

Attempts were made by Fourways Review to contact the family using the contact details provided on the missing person poster to gain further insight into her life and the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

However, no response had been received at the time of publication.

Randburg police confirmed they are currently investigating the case, and no further details about the incident have been released yet.
