Anti-immigration marches affect traffic across Johannesburg North

Planned matches, linked to the anti-illegal immigration sentiment today, remained peaceful across parts of Johannesburg North, with law enforcement closely monitoring gatherings and managing traffic disruptions.

The Gauteng provincial joint operations centre (JOC) alerts channel confirmed that several areas in Johannesburg North had been affected by approved or ongoing community marches and related gatherings during the course of the day.
Affected areas in Johannesburg North included:
- Honeydew (Zandspruit area),
- Alexandra (Pan Africa Mall, Alexandra Plaza and Joe Nhlanhla Street),
- Olievenhoutbosch (Waterberg Street),
- Marlboro Gardens (Zinnia Road),
- Diepsloot (Ingonyama Drive), and
- Midrand (Glen Austin area).
Across all affected areas, authorities urged motorists to avoid impacted routes where possible, allow extra travel time, and follow directions from traffic officers as conditions continued to change throughout the day.

At the time of publication, the marches were being managed under law enforcement supervision, with no major incidents confirmed in reported areas.
