Fourways dogs enjoy free vaccinations and care at Kingfisher Dog Park

Non-profit organisation Community Hours is supporting local pet owners with essential healthcare and outdoor fun for their four-legged companions.

Two dogs enjoyed a practical outing when their owner, 18-year-old Emilio Enoch, brought them for free vaccinations and nail clipping in Fourways.

The community pet outreach, hosted by Fourways-based non-profit organisation Community Hours, gave other pet owners an opportunity to access essential services for their animals.

Enoch, who owns three-year-old Molly and 20-month-old Oscar, heard about the pet outreach through his mother.

Although it was his first time attending the outreach at Kingfisher Dog Park, Enoch enjoyed getting his pets out into the fresh air.

“It’s very good. Very nice to be outside, be with the dogs, you know, get them some fresh air. They usually play in our yard and in the house, which is a bit limiting. Here, they can play with other dogs,” he said.

At home, Molly and Oscar are calm and well-behaved, according to Enoch, who understands that keeping dogs happy means looking after their health and comfort.

He said vaccinations play an important role in protecting dogs against preventable diseases, while rabies shots protect both animals and people.

Nail clipping is just as important. “Overgrown nails can cause discomfort and affect a dog’s ability to walk comfortably, which is why regular trimming is an essential part of their care,” Enoch said.

For Enoch, the visit was an opportunity to take care of these needs while enjoying time with his dogs in an outdoor setting.

While the vaccinations and nail clipping were the main reasons for the visit, the outing offered something extra.

“The park is beautiful. I love the fact that it is spacious for our dogs to run around with the others. We are definitely going to make this a weekend routine,” said Micah, Enoch’s younger brother.
