Fourways homeowner shoots suspect dead as Douglasdale police report successes
Douglasdale SAPS and local CPF members have made multiple arrests following various incidents across the policing area over the past week.
Douglasdale police recorded several successes over the past week, including arrests linked to robberies and a Montecasino protest.
Douglasdale SAPS station commander Brigadier Veeshani Arikum said the week included several incidents requiring police intervention. On October 14, a homeowner was confronted by a group of armed men who allegedly approached her and her daughter. “The homeowner retrieved her firearm and shot one of the suspects, who was declared dead at the scene,” Arikum said.

Police also monitored a protest at Montecasino on October 14, during which two protesters were arrested for alleged contraventions of the Road Traffic Act and for resisting arrest.
In another incident, on October 16, Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF) members were conducting patrols when they came across a man wearing a balaclava. According to Arikum, the man ran when approached and was subsequently apprehended by members of the SAPS and CPF. He was allegedly found in possession of bank cards, phone accessories and a woman’s watch.
“Anyone who was a victim of smash-and-grabs or robberies on Winnie Mandela Drive is urged to open cases at the Douglasdale Police Station,” Arikum said.
The suspect was detained at Douglasdale SAPS before appearing in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.

All the suspects appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.
Police continue to encourage residents affected by crime to report incidents and open cases, as this can assist investigators in linking suspects to offences and pursuing further investigations.
