According to the station commander, security officers discovered that three suspects had allegedly removed a server and batteries from an MTN tower. “A chase ensued, and the suspects were cornered at a residential complex.”

During the confrontation, one suspect allegedly attempted to disarm a security officer and was fatally wounded. “One suspect was fatally wounded during the incident, while another was arrested.”

A docket for tampering with essential infrastructure was opened, and the arrested suspect was detained at Douglasdale SAPS. The recovered property was handed back to its lawful owner, MTN.

Brigadier Arikum added that Douglasdale police recorded several other successful arrests during the same week. “Other successes for the week ranged from cases of distribution of pornographic material on the internet without consent, to theft, and drinking in a public place.”

All suspects linked to these cases have since appeared before the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.
