Part time accountant, full time do gooder
FOURWAYS - A Fourways resident and Love to Do Good member is taking on the plight of the less fortunate, with thrilling results.
Senzo Manzini is not your typical run-a-day accountant.
Him and two friends, Melusi Moloi and Iteumeleng Moabi-Makasi, ran 5km each in a relay event at the launch of the Freedom Day Run in late April, and was able to raise over R40 000.
On 12 July Manzini visited Kids Haven in Benoni to hand over the funds.
Kids Haven, a non-profit children’s shelter provides care and support to 180 street children, and has been open for 21 years.
“Kids Haven, is doing a lot of work for children that have been abandoned and are living on the fringes of society,” the samaritan said.
The organisation aims to reintegrate children back to their communities for them to take their rightful place in society, with family support.
The haven also caters for a range of residential developmental intervention programmes with focus on their physical, emotional, psychological, educational and spiritual needs.
The latest donation will go the multitude of programmes run there.
But with the check handed over, Manzini is not putting an end to his efforts to make the world a better place.
He has also started the Give a lil’ warmth this winter campaign and hopes to collect 174 previously loved hoodies for the children living at Kids Haven’s care.
Love to do Good is an online platform for people to register and raise funds for causes they believe in.
The aim is for people to sponsor others to do interesting things such as base jumping, participating in a marathon or taking a dive from an aeroplane. Raised funds then gets donated to organisations in need.
