Cupcakes for Mandela

FOURWAYS - Cupcakes 4 Kids With Cancer honour Madiba with the largest cupcake mosaic in the southern hemisphere.

The mosaic was built at Fourways Mall using 5 226 cupcakes. They were laid on a grid of 67 rows symbolising the 67 years former president Nelson Mandela dedicated to the public service.

The beneficiaries of Cupcakes 4 Kids With Cancer and the volunteers which included radio personality and Formula One commentator Sasha Martinengo gathered to create the largest cupcake mosaic in the southern hemisphere at the Fourways Mall as part of the Mandela Day festivities. The cupcakes were sold to the public and funds raised are in aid of The Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Trust. About R8265 was raised on the day.

Cupcakes 4 Kids With Cancer is part of Cupcakes of Hope, a non-profit company, and their aim is to create awareness and raise funds for children with cancer. They host many events during the year, but the main event is hosting the National Cupcake Day 4 Kids With Cancer in September which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
