A Biathle is a sporting event made up of two disciplines and for the championships, pupils combined swimming and running.
The weather conditions were ideal for racing with a warm sunny day and little wind. The event consisted of a run/swim/run competition with distances comprising of 500m to 1,500m runs and 50m to 200m swims, followed by the same distance run again. The distances varied with each age group.
The standard was very high with competitors also trying to qualify for the world championships. St Peters pupil Miguel Morias (14) obtained a silver medal in his age group and will compete in the World Championship in Cairo during October.
St Peters College pupils were very successful during the event and achieved the following results:
Miguel Morais came in second place, while Jade Thokoan and Chesnay Havenga were placed 5th and 6th respectively. James van Dongen came in 5th in his category. Other achievements for the St Peters pupils include Jamie Edwards in 14th place, Kieran Moodley, who was placed 17th and Jordan (JJ) van Dongen, who came 18th.
