Karate champs excel in Denmark

LONEHILL - Crawford College, Lonehill pupil Christopher Xides made his school and his karate club proud when he attended the Denmark Training Camp, Grading and World Championship in July.

The nine-year-old member of The South Gauteng Tenshinkan Karate Club, which is under the leadership of Sensei Cindy-Lee Ludick (4th Dan), was one of the youngest students to receive his Junior Black Belt 2 during the camp. Xides also won a gold for kata and silver for his fighting.

His brother, Alexander Xides, was graded for his 2nd Dan Black Belt and won a gold for kata and bronze for fighting

Sensei Ludick was graded for her 4th Dan Black Belt and won a gold for kata. Her sister, Monique Ludick, was graded for her 1st Dan Black Belt and won a bronze for fighting.

Genio Brentot was graded for his 1st Dan Black Belt and won 4th place for kata, while his brother Guido Brentot was graded for his Junior Black Belt 1 and won a gold for kata.

Sensei Ludick said she had prepared her students well and brought back a total of four gold, one silver and two bronze. “I am proud of my students and all of their achievements,” she said.
