Furry friends looking for homes

FOURWAYS - Four Paws has dogs and cats that desperately need homes.

The animal shelter is based in Fourways, just off William Nicol and heading towards Diepsloot. It caters for abused and abandoned dogs and cats. The shelter is also heavily involved in the townships and informal settlements in and around Johannesburg and does outreach programs where they dip, sterilise and care for township pets.

They also care for many of the feral cats in Fourways and beyond, making sure colonies are sterilised and the cats are in good health and well fed.

Merinda Brits of Four Paws said they were looking for funding to help build their new shelter. “Please donate all your jumble, books, household items and appliances, office items and garden tools and equipment that you do not need anymore,” she urged.

The shelter is able to sell unwanted goods to buy building equipment as well as dog and cat food.

Brits said Mandela Day was an absolute blessing for the shelter. “People were clearing areas where we still have to build, planting trees, walking our dogs, interacting with our cats. Thank you to all those who helped for making it such a super day for our furry friends,” she said.
