Residents to unite over Norscot sale
Ward 115 councillor, Christopher Santana, has invited members of the public to attend a meeting on 27 August, from 6.20pm to 7.30pm.
The meeting will deal with the city council’s proposed sale or closure of Norscot Manor Recreation Centre and discuss a community-driven strategy to save it. The meeting will be held in the Billiard Room of the centre.
“The purpose of the meeting will be to bring together residents and business owners to found a Friends of Norscot Manor Forum, with the aim of saving the recreation centre from closure. The forum will need a chair and stakeholders from the community who will commit some of their time to save Norscot Manor,” Santana said.
The forum will be supported by the ward councillor, the Ward 115 committee and previous ward councillor Susan Mottram. “The meeting will be an opportunity for the public to offer solutions and be proactive in retaining this community centre. The centre hosts numerous services, activities and facilities, including Black Like Me artists, language and exercise classes, adult education lessons, a library and a tea garden that is geared for the whole family. It is equipped to entertain young children in a safe environment,” Santana said.
