Chartwell fire under control
FOURWAYS - Where there is smoke, there is fire and Fourways Review's BBM contacts were abuzz trying to find the location of a fire in the area.

An eye witness said the Chartwell North fire took about seven seconds to spread from where it originated in the open veld to an abandoned house.
There were old car tyres in the abandoned house which were used for paintball.
Fire engines from five different fire stations attended to the fire in Chartwell North.
They were from Lonehill, Ivory Park, Hunters Hill, Modderfontein and Rosebank.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
Update: 14 August, 2.20pm
A black cloud of smoke was hanging over Fourways about lunchtime on 14 August.
Vice-chairperson of Chartwell North Estates Sharon Schoutens quelled rumours and said the fire was started by vagrants on open land across the river from Chartwell North, towards Lanseria. She said the fire must have got out of control and burnt tyres lying in the veld, which caused the black cloud of smoke.
Fourways Review news editor Megan Mclean was driving on Cedar Road when a fire engine passed her. She was on her way to the scene.
