SA Tattoo on the move
FOURWAYS - Negotiations are underway to tour the SA Tattoo to other South African cities so the rest of the country can enjoy this popular show.
Since its inception the SA Tattoo has been on a quest for innovative, new ideas – now another big change is on the way.
“We are delighted to announce plans to take this show to other cities in the coming year. Sadly, this means moving from our first home at Montecasino,” said executive producer Simon Carter.
“As exciting as it is, it means that this, our 5th season, will sadly be our last here in Johannesburg for the foreseeable future.”
The SA Tattoo takes place at the Montecasino Outdoor Events Area from 5 to 8 September. The show features the traditional massed pipes and drums as well as highland dancers but in addition to these and a host of other favourite local acts such as drum majorettes, a massed choir, the Tshwane Police Band, the National Ceremonial Guard Band, the Code Red Drum Corps and the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra, this year also sees the popular SA band Just Jinjer performing.
Adding to the fanfare and the thrills of this year’s line-up, there are also remarkable unique international acts featuring the Ten Drum Percussion Group from Taiwan; the French Paratrooper army band, Musique des Parachutistes from France and the Top Secret Drum Corps from Switzerland.
More than 90 000 people have enjoyed the multi-cultural and multi-national performances that bring diverse mass entertainment to Montecasino for the past five years.
“This year’s 5th and last season at Montecasino will be bigger and better with our best international line-up ever,” said Carter, and he ensured that it would be a show to remember for a long time to come.
